Projects: The Sweat Equity Homes Project

Adrienne is the newest resident of Bluff, UT (population 245). She came to DesignBuildBLUFF as a volunteer in 2019, drawn to the program for its creative and contemporary use of natural materials. Motivated by her strong belief that everyone deserves housing that is healthy and affordable, she remained in Bluff to better understand the barriers to delivery in rural settings. Adrienne joined Nááts'íilid Initiative one year later with the ultimate goal to mobilize people and organizations around issues of housing, water, power, and food security.

Adrienne holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Roger Williams University. Though she has extensive experience managing luxury commercial and residential construction projects nationally, she soon re-focused her talents and efforts in pursuit of socially impactful design work. Previously, she worked as an estimator, project manager, superintendent, and builder—each subsequent career shift orienting her to a new perspective in the fields of design and construction. Adrienne is inspired by buildings that are rooted in place and admires cultures that are connected to their land and traditions. To deepen her relationship with her new home, she is exploring the process of making paints with earthen pigments from Comb Wash in Bluff. Adrienne grew up in a small walkable city on the North Shore of Massachusetts, which instilled in her an appreciation for well-designed spaces that support community health and connectivity. She is the daughter of a craftsperson and social worker, who taught her to lead with creativity and compassion.
